Frequently Asked Questions
Are you required to be a member of Colorado Rifle Club to participate?
No. You do not have to be a member of CRC to participate in these trainings.
Can minors or children attend?
Yes. "Young guns" (age 12-17) are able to participate. They are welcome to register but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered for that class.
Target Distances?
These classes are primarily centered on the basics of long-range marksmanship, rather than the distance you can achieve. However, the range does feature targets extending up to 1 mile.
What caliber can I use?
We follow the CRC range rules which are as follows. Maximum muzzle velocity for all rifles is 3200 fps. No steel core or armor piercing ammo.
For these classes anything from a 223 up to a 30 cal will work.
Will my optic work for this training?
Long range shooting does require dialing your elevation turret or using a reticle which allows you to accurate hold over out to distance. A hunting scope that is unable to dial or hold over in the reticle, red dot sights, or iron sights do not meet this requirement.
What gear do I need?
A rifle, high-quality ammunition, and an optic that can dial or hold over are necessary. A bipod is strongly advised. If you don't own one, we recommend purchasing a bipod before the class. Feel free to contact us for brand suggestions. Rear or support shooting bags are essential. We have several available to share with students if needed.
Will you have any gear I can test or use?
Certainly. We will have a wide variety of general long-range shooting equipment available for you to use. This encompasses support bags, bipods, tripods, range-finding binoculars, rifles, scopes, and more. Some gear, such as rifles, will be hands on only with no testing. Other gear, such as support bags, can be tested at the range.
